Gamethread: Giants at White Sox
Bañuelos gets the start, as the White Sox face the Giants back in Glendale.
The White Sox look to improve on their 7-13 spring record as they return to Glendale for a matchup against the San Francisco Giants.
Manny Bañuelos will be the White Sox’ starting pitcher, as the left-hander looks to solidify his case to begin the season in the starting rotation. In his last start, he threw 3 1⁄3 innings, allowing three runs (two earned), issuing one walk, and striking out five. That performance lowered his spring ERA to 5.59, though that number is heavily inflated due to a disastrous first outing. Due to a late switch, Bañuelos will be facing righty Tyler Beede, who has a 5.40 ERA this spring.

As we approach the end of Spring Training, more projected Opening Day starters are in the lineup. The third base experiment is going well for Moncada in the earlygoing, as he continues to get playing time there. Despite limited playing time there in the majors, he is off to solid start there defensively. He is also the White Sox’ hottest hitter this spring, with a mighty .355/.474/.677 slash line. In an offseason without much to cheer for, he has been a pleasant surprise after an average performance during the 2018 season.
In a surprise to nobody, the White Sox announced that Carlos Rodón will be the Opening Day starting pitcher before today’s game.
