Northeast Panhandle Cotton Conference set April 2 in Perryton

PERRYTON – The Northeast Panhandle Cotton Conference will be hosted by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service April 2 at the Ochiltree County Expo Building, 402 Expo Drive, Perryton.

Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m., followed by the program from 9 a.m.-2 p.m., which will include an auxin training after lunch. The fee is $10 for the day, and lunch will be provided.

“We have a growing interest in cotton in this county, and we want to make sure we provide experts for any questions producers may have,” said Scott Strawn, AgriLife Extension agriculture and natural resources agent in Ochiltree County.

Presenters will include AgriLife Extension specialists Dr. Jourdan Bell, agronomist, and Dr. Ed Bynum, entomologist, both from Amarillo, and Dr. Murilo Maeda, cotton specialist, Lubbock. Producers will also hear an update from Plains Cotton Growers.

Three Texas Department of Agriculture private pesticide applicator continuing education units – two general and one integrated pest management – will be offered for the morning program.

An additional two laws and regulations CEUs will be offered at the two-hour auxin training beginning at 1 p.m. for purchasers and certified applicators of dicamba and 2,4-D choline products.
