Woman who kung-fu kicked clubber with stiletto heel is spared jail

A mum who kung-fu kicked another clubber in the face with her heel, leaving the victim with a permanent scar above her eye, has been spared jail.

The vicious attack took place following a row over a table booking at a club in Bournemouth.

Mercedes Eyre, 28, struck 47-year-old Georgina Scott-Andrews above the eye with her spiked heel before jumping out of her seat and punching her as she lay on the floor, the Daily Mail reported.

A friend of Eyre’s was so shocked at the attack, that she stayed behind to give authorities her name.

Eyre, who has a four-year-old daughter, pleaded guilty to a charge of assault causing actual bodily harm.

She was spared jail by a judge because of the ‘detrimental effect it would have on her child’.

Miss Scott-Andrews had been on a night out with her twin sister Heather and a group of friends at Canvas nightclub on October 21 last year.

A row ensued after she sat down on a table after leaving the dance floor.

Rob Welling, prosecuting, said: ‘Heather had been taking a rest from being on the dancefloor and was rather aggressively told by the defendant that the table was booked.

‘She moved away, but realised she had left her drink and went back to retrieve it.

‘At that point, the defendant became angrier and launched an attack in which she was verbally shouting.

‘Georgina came over and suddenly, while sat down at the table, [Eyre] raised one leg and thrust her high-heeled shoe towards Georgina’s face.

‘There was contact and Georgina fell and slid backwards along the floor.

‘The defendant then punched her to the chest and head multiple times.’

After the attack, Miss Scott-Andrews was left bloody and dazed with no memory of what had happened.

She had to have 13 stitches in the wound which has left her with a permanent scar above her left eye.

Georgina says she was totally shocked after looking at herself in the mirror after the attack and seeing herself ‘covered in blood’.

She said: ‘I was dancing and I saw Heather looked upset so I went over to her and put my arms around her.

‘The next thing I remember was being in the toilets and looking in the mirror and seeing all the blood pouring out of my face. I was shocked how much blood there was.’

‘My eye was really swollen and all sorts of colours, I couldn’t really see out of it for a while, and my chest hurt for days when I breathed from the bruising.’

Eyre, from Bournemouth, was sentenced to 12 months in prison suspended for two years, as well as unpaid work and a rehabilitation activity requirement.

She must also pay her victim £500 compensation.
