HOUSTON — The Warriors (46-21) listed Kevin Durant as questionable for Saturday’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder (42-17) after missing Wednesday’s game in Houston with a right ankle contusion.
Warriors coach Steve Kerr said that Durant is “feeling better” after practicing in all of Friday’s session. But Dr. Rick Celebrini, the Warriors’ director of sports medicine and performance, plans work more with Durant and then make a decision following morning shootaround on Saturday.
“When Rick says he’ll play, he’ll play,” Kerr said of Durant. “He did everything. But it wasn’t like we had a very physical practice.”
Durant suffered the injury during a 115-112 loss to the Phoenix Suns on Sunday at Oracle Arena. Durant landed awkwardly on his right ankle after attempting to throw the ball through a double team. He stayed on the floor, but eventually stood up on his own. Durant then walked to the locker room without needing any assistance with 6:34 left in the game.
The Warriors have never considered Durant’s injury to be serious. They have not had Durant take an MRI. Durant has missed only one game out of eight appearances against the Thunder after signing for the Warriors as a free agent in 2016.
