I’m not dead - Man who drank water from gutter to celebrate Buhari’s victory dismisses rumours

The man who reportedly died after swimming in and drinking water from a drainage (gutter) in Bauchi state to celebrate President Muhammadu Buhari’s electoral victory, Aliyu Mohammed Sani, is hale and hearty.

Speaking with Daily Trust on Wednesday, March 6, Sani referred to the report of his alleged death on social media as ‘fake news’.

Legit.ng gathers that Sani, a painter, also dismissed reports that he had developed complications and was taken to hospital.

He said his decision to drink the gutter water following the president’s victory was in fulfillment of a promise he made in the presence of people.

He said: "As I am talking to you now, I am on my way back to Bauchi after we finished a painting work somewhere outside Bauchi.

“It is true, I made the promise before the elections and I fulfilled it and I have no regrets.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the minister of information and culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said President Muhammadu Buhari's victory in the just concluded presidential election symbolizes the triumph of the ordinary Nigerians over the elite.

The minister made the remarks in Abuja when he received the management of his ministry who came to congratulate him on the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the Saturday, February 23 presidential and National Assembly elections.
