Ahead of Saturday, March 9, governorship and House of Assembly elections in Oyo state, the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and the national leader All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, have met with Senator Soji Akanbi, and other party leaders to rally support for its candidate, Adebayo Adelabu.
Nigerian Tribune reports that the meeting between the APC leaders and Senator Akanbi at the Burdillion residence of Tinubu in Lagos was part of the moves to bring the former aggrieved members of the party together to brighten Adelabu's chances and other candidates of the party in the forthcoming election.

Legit.ng gathered that Senator Akanbi, who was on the APC ticket won election in 2015 to represent Oyo south in the Senate, left the party for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), where he secured a ticket for his reelection, after he parted ways with APC, due to his loss of a second term ticket to the incumbent Governor Abiola Ajimobi.
It was reported that both Akanbi and Ajimobi, however, lost the February 23 senatorial election at their district to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Kola Balogun.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that barely five days to the governorship election, a faction of African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Oyo state has reportedly told the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, that certain conditions must be met before it could support the ruling party and work for its candidate, Adebayo Adelabu, on Saturday, March 9.
