January 21, 2019 [A Year in SF Bay]
The full moon was just starting to set as I drove to club. There had been a nice wind and rain storm late last night, but the morning dawned perfectly clear, so a perfect full moon over the bay.
When I got to club I ran to the dock to take pix of the moon, and the swimmers were getting ready with their boats to do either an Alcatraz or Boat Harbor swim, about the same distance, but the Harbor swim in all close in to shore.
There was a big flood tide so it was 17 minutes out…BUT when i got to the flag, NO FLAG! It had been blown away by the storm last night I presume, as it was there yesterday. So I just kept on going out the the moored boats by Muni Pier and swam around the boats to the cove opening and then swam in the with flood…31 minutes out to the Gap and then 11 minutes back to the docks.
And with the flood push, I thought I was coming in between SERC and Dolphin, but as I got to the beach realized I was next to the Hyde Street Pier and Patrick and another swimmer were yelling and laughing at me on the wrong beach! So I swam under the SERC dock and onto the beach…total time 42 minutes.
