It’s Steph Curry vs Seth Curry in the three-point contest
The brothers will go toe-to-toe in their hometown.
The brotherly battle is officially on, as both Steph Curry and Seth Curry have accepted their invitations to compete in the three-point contest at the 2019 All-Star weekend. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski first reported that the Golden State Warriors superstar would return to the contest for the sixth time, after a two-year hiatus.
It’s no surprise that Steph said yes this time around. Not only is he offered the chance to compete against his brother, who plays for the Portland Trail Blazers, but the All-Star Game takes place in his hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina, something Steph called “a nice storyline.”
“The three-point shootout will be fun with the Curry brothers,” the two-time MVP told Wojnarowski. “I know he’s going to be gunning for me, though. That’s the problem.”
Of course, it won’t be the first time that we’ve seen the Curry brothers go at each other on the court.
Fun narratives aside, both players strongly deserve their place in the contest. Steph is second in the league in threes made, with 191, while Seth is second in three-point percentage, shooting 48.0%. When it comes to putting the ball in the basket from a deep distance, these two know how to get it done.
For Warriors fans, it will be great to see Steph back in the three-point contest after he took two seasons off. Anyone who watches him on a nightly basis knows what he’s capable of, and it sure is a lot of fun to just watch his jump shot over and over again.
It will be a long weekend for Steph, who will not only compete in the three-point contest but be a starter in the All-Star Game as well.
And guess who Steph will play in his final tune-up game before the All-Star break? That’s right, Seth’s Blazers. So we’ll get an in-game showdown between the brothers three days before the contest showdown. This is great theater!
The three-point contest takes place on Saturday, February 16, while the 2019 All-Star Game is on Sunday, February 17. Both events will take place at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, and will be broadcast on TNT.
