Four Political Activists Interrogated And One Arrested In Iran

Reports from Iran say that four political activists in the town of Songhor were taken to the intelligence ministry and questioned for their activities in cyberspace and one of them was arrested.


Songhor is located in the western Kermanshah province.


Kiyoumars Vaezi, a high school teacher told the U.S. based Center for Human Rights in Iran that in the past few days, he and three other political activists were called to the intelligence ministry branch and “interrogated for long hours”.


Vaezi said that Ehsan Darabi was arrested after interrogation on January 16 and in a phone call to his family asked them to prepare bail money for him.


Apparently, the reason for the interrogations of the activists and the arrest was an independent channel on the messaging app Telegram they set up, where they were relaying news from various cities.


Mr. Vaezi’s wife has also been asked to go to the intelligence ministry in Kermanshah city. She is law student and was involved with President Hassan Rouhani’s election campaign.


In recent days more than a dozen environment activists were also detained for questioning in Kurdistan provine.
