Liverpool star makes big statement concerning their Premier League title ambition after 29-year wait

Sadio Mane has provoked Premier League title contenders Manchester City by claiming that Liverpool will keep hold their own in the remaining fixtures of the Premier League.

According to UK Sun report, the Senegal forward is upbeat the Jurgen Klopp tutored-side win emerge the Premier League champions for the first time this campaign, ending a 29-year wait for the silverware.

“We are determined to show we are the best team in the league,” Mane stressed.

But Jurgen Klopp’s Reds now have a great chance of silencing those critics for good by finally winning the club’s first Premier League title.

The Reds have maintained a four-point lead over City since cruising past the Pep Guardiola side before the turn of the year.

In the last decade only three clubs have failed to win the Premier League silverware after leading the log through the festive period.

Only the duo of Liverpool (2008-09 and 2013-14) and Arsenal (2007-8) have disappointed when it mattered most.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Liverpool right back Trent Alexander-Arnold has been ruled out of action for at least four weeks after picking up an injury in his side's 1-0 win over Brighton and Hove Albion.

The 20-year-old has been impressive for the Reds all season long - scoring once and assisting three other goals after 17 Premier League matches this campaign.
