Over 3,000 primary school teachers clashed with police in the second week of protests over hiring reforms.
Teachers in Athens demonstrated on Monday against government plans to change the hiring system for the public sector. Protesters held banners that read: "Permanent hirings now!"
Police threw tear gas at the gathered crowds in response to some of the protesters letting off fireworks in their direction. Protesters also tried to break a police cordon near parliament.
Teachers argue schools are understaffed and want the creation of more permanent positions.
The Greek government froze hiring at public schools after it was hit by an economic crisis in 2009.
