A former chief whip of the Sokoto state House of Assembly, Alhaji Bello Yahayya Wurno, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2019 general elections.

A former chief whip of the Sokoto state House of Assembly, Alhaji Bello Yahayya Wurno, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2019 general elections.
Three former elected chairmen of Rabah local government, a former special adviser to Aminu Tambuwal and over 20,687 other members of the opposition also defected to the APC, Nigerian Tribune reports.
Legit.ng gathers that the members of the PDP, who dumped the opposition party on Saturday, January 12, were received into the APC at the flag off of the Sokoto state eastern zone campaign in Wurno and Rabah towns respectively.

Alhaji Bello Yahayya Wurno, Alhaji Abubakar Hamma’Ali, and Alhaji Chika Hamma’Ali, are some of the prominent defectors in Wurno local government.
Alhaji Wurno, who spoke on behalf of the defectors, said they joined APC because of the tangible achievements of Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, when he held sway as governor of the state.
Alhaji Mohammed Rabah, Alhaji Yusuf Mohammed Rabah, Alhaji Ango Shehu Rabah, and Alhaji Alhassan Ibrahim Rarah, are some of the prominent defectors in Rabah local government.
Others are former member of the Sokoto state House of Assembly, Alhaji Ibrahim Tsamiya, a former special adviser to governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, Alhaji Husseini Gandi and an ex-caretaker councillor, Alhaji Tukur Mohammed, among others.
The defectors were assured by the leader of the APC in the state, Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, that they would be treated fairly, justly and equally as the older members of the party.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that no fewer than 2,800 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Madobi, Daura in Katsina state defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The defectors were received into the APC fold in Madobi village on Monday, January 7, by the Daura local government party chairman, Alhaji Sani Altine-Daura.

The chairman assured the new members of equal treatment and promised to carry everybody along in the party activities, devoid of any other considerations.
Malam Iliyasu Shehu, former chairman of the local government, who spoke on behalf of the defectors, said that they took the decision in order to add value to electoral process as general elections got nearer.
