Manchester United caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solksjaer has revealed that he unleashed Paul Pogba against Tottenham.

The Frenchman provided a superb pass that led to Marcus Rahsford's goal which became the match winner for the Red Devils at Wembley.

The France international has been involved in eight goals since Solksjaer took over the mantle as manager at Old Trafford.

The 25-year-old who was handed his United Reserves debut by the Norwegian in 2009 has scored four and created another four since Solksjaer's appointment in December 2018.

United have now won six matches out of six with Pogba in full display of his artistic midfielder qualities under the new interim boss.

Solksjaer had explained what the new coaching set up had told the ex-Juventus midfielder which is having a positive effect in his game.

"We encourage him to go forward," Solskjaer said. "To track back and make recovery runs. But of course when you have the skill Paul has and the vision, you see with the pass for the goal, great run by Rash.

"But Paul's one of the best midfielders in the world going forward, so you should release him forward.

"Then you have Ander and Nemanja two fantastic, how do you call it? The energy they give us and the balance they give us is what helps Paul as well to go forward."
