BRIGHTON have won a battle with a Croatian club that share an identical badge with the Premier League club.
Jadran-Galeb, who play in Croatia‘s third tier, drew on inspiration from the Seagulls for their club crest.
They chose an identical design with matching colours and seagull, with the only difference the club name emblazoned across it.
As such Brighton contacted the club requesting it be changed, according to Croatian outlet Epodravina.
The club were reportedly only alerted to the copycat after a member of Jadran-Galeb’s staff went to Brighton’s offices and informed them of the similarities, before asking for “some kind of symbolic donation, in the form of equipment”.
It is understood Jadran-Galeb have acquiesced to Brighton’s request so it is unlikely the Premier League club will take legal action.
The Croatian County Football Association removed the badge from their website and Jadran-Galeb will now come up with a new crest.
Founds found the incident rather amusing with some being facetious by claiming there were no similarities between the badges.
One fan said: “Wait, they had the nerve to ask for donations after copying the crest? ”
Another added: “One’s a seagull the others a dove. How can you not tell the difference ”
