San Ramon Valley edge rusher Marco Jones, De La Salle defensive lineman Matthew Johnson and St. Francis running back Kingston Keanaaina headline the list of high school football players from the Bay Area News Group’s coverage area who signed with major colleges on Wednesday.
Jones, a four-star talent who had a spectacular career at San Ramon Valley, is headed to Texas A&M. Johnson, also rated a four-star, signed with top-ranked Oregon. Keanaaina, a three-star prospect, is taking his game to BYU.
Pittsburg, which is getting ready for its regional championship game against Folsom on Friday, had numerous players make their oral commitments official during the first day of the early signing period.
Two Pirates — three-star safety Jadyn Hudson and three-star edge rusher Juju Walls — will be moving on to UCLA. Jamar Searcy, a three-star athlete, signed with Washington State, and three-star linebacker Etene Pritchard put pen to paper with San Diego State.
Two linemen from rival San Francisco schools — St. Ignatius’ John Mills and Archbishop Riordan’s Peter Langi — are set to become teammates at Washington. Mills, a 6-6, 320-pound offensive tackle, signed with the Huskies after flipping from Texas. He is getting ready to play in a regional championship game on Saturday at Central-Fresno. Langi measures 6-5, 330 and is coming off a strong season at Riordan.
Washington cleaned up in the Bay Area, signing seven players. In addition to Mills and Langi, Bishop O’Dowd athlete Deji Ajose, Riordan receiver Chris Lawson, Monte Vista running back Julian McMahan, Valley Christian lineman Champ Taulealea and Menlo-Atherton edge rusher Devin Hyde are headed to Seattle.
