One of the best rushers in college football will be on display when Brashard Smith and the SMU Mustangs (9-1) take on the Virginia Cavaliers (5-5) on Saturday, November 23, 2024.
The Mustangs enter the matchup after winning 38-28 over the Boston College Eagles in their last outing on Nov. 16. Last time out, the Cavaliers fell to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish 35-14. Kevin Jennings threw for 298 yards, with three touchdowns and one interception on 24-of-35 passing (68.6%) for the Mustangs in that matchup against the Eagles. Smith rushed for 120 yards on 18 carries (6.7 yards per carry) and one touchdown, adding four receptions for 13 yards. Jordan Hudson had 99 yards on seven catches (14.1 per reception) with one touchdown in that game. Tony Muskett’s showing for the Cavs against the Fighting Irish included 9-of-14 passing for 103 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions. He rushed five times for 9 yards and two touchdowns. Xavier Brown carried the ball 11 times for 52 yards. Malachi Fields recorded 81 yards through the air after four catches (on seven targets).
