WOMEN are better drivers than men, a new study signals.
They are four times less likely to go to court and half as likely to make an insurance claim.
Figures show 539,000 drivers were in court last year — 79 per cent of them fellas. A quarter of those were caught speeding.
Men were five times more likely to be done for drink driving and three times more likely to be driving without insurance.
Meanwhile two thirds of insurance claims were made by men, with 17 per cent admitting blame compared to eight per cent of women motorists.
Stats analysed by Confused.com also showed men’s average insurance claim was £5,577 while women’s was £5,150. In a survey 20 per cent of men admitted skipping red lights, compared with 15 per cent of women.
“But females were more likely to eat at the wheel and 14 per cent had driven bare foot.
Amanda Stretton, motoring editor at Confused.com, said: “The debate about who are better drivers has been impossible to settle, until now. There can be confusion about men paying higher car insurance prices. But if you go by the data, women are safer drivers, which means cheaper costs.”
