The Heated Rivalry Books Are Already Sold Out
In case you’ve been living under a rock, people are losing their minds over a racy new hockey-romance TV series called Heated Rivalry. (I’m people.) Created by Crave and streaming on HBO Max, the show is about the clandestine love affair between two professional hockey stars, Shane Hollander of the Montreal Metros (Hudson Williams) and Ilya Rozanov of the Boston Raiders (Connor Storrie), though episode three dips into a second gay romance between New York Admirals player Scott Hunter (François Arnaud) and his smoothie barista Kip Grady (Robbie G.K.). It is adapted from Canadian novelist Rachel Reid’s Game Changers romance series, which is flying off the shelves.
As of now, the Game Changers books are temporarily out of stock on Amazon, Bookshop, and Barnes & Noble; every Heated Rivalry copy has been checked out of the New York Public Library system, and brick-and-mortar bookstores have been cleared too. Fans have taken to the comments of the book’s publisher, Harlequin, a Harper Collins imprint, to beg for reprints and a tie-in cover. (Last week, Reid told me she is hard at work writing a new hockey-romance novel.) Who knows, maybe gay-hockey smut can solve the literacy crisis?
