[MCCAA] 45 teams earn MCCAA All-Acedemic Team Awards

The Michigan Community College Athletic Association is proud to announce that 45 teams have earned MCCAA All-Academic Team honors. To earn the honors a team must have a cumulative grade point average for all members of the team must be 3.00 or higher for both semesters combined.

[MCCAA] MCCAA hands out 733 Academic Awards for the 2017-18 school year

The Michigan Community College Athletic Association has post the 2017-18 Michigan Community College Athletic Association Academic Awards and 733 athletes have earned either Academic All-Conference or Academic All-MCCAA honors. To earn Academic All-Conference honors, an athletic must pass at least 24 credits with a 3.00 grade point average or higher. All 733 athletes earned Academic All-Conference Honors. [MCCAA] Gene Reese honored with MCCAA Distinguished Service Award

Retired Ancilla College Athletic Director Gene Reese was honored by the Michigan Community College Athletic Association Distinguished Service Award on June 7th at the annual MCCAA Summer Meeting. Reese, who was the first and only AD at Ancilla College, retired in February from the school. He started with the Chargers as athletic director in 1995, the first year of the program.

[MCCAA] Ancilla's Reese named MCCAA Athletic Director of the Year

Retired Ancilla College Athletic Director has been named the 2018 Michigan Community College Athletic Association Athletic Director of the Year. Reese who retired in February, also won the award in 2006. Reese was the only Athletic Director Ancilla College had since starting sports in 1995.

[MCCAA] Lansing claims third straight MCCAA Charlie Chanter All-Sports Awards

The Lansing Community College athletic department has won the 2017-18 MCCAA Charlie Chanter All-Sports Trophy. The win is the third consecutive win for the department. Macomb Community College, who were seventh last season, finished second, while last year's runner-up Gand Rapids finished third. Muskegon Community College finished fourth for the second straight season, while Oakland Community College jumped from ninth last season to fifth this year. [Women's Basketball] Macomb women repeat as District H Champions

The Macomb Community College men's basketball team is back to back NJCAA District H Women's Basketball Tournament Champions after defeating Schoolcraft College 64-63. Schoolcraft lead after the first quarter 22-20, after Macomb lead by 13 early in the quarter. Macomb took the lead in the second quarter and never relinquished it. The Monarchs never lead by more than seven the rest of the way. Schoolcraft was down 64-60 with 12 second left but missed a layup with seven second and Macomb's Ashley Wilson grabbed the rebound. [Women's Basketball] CHARGED UP: Ancilla clinches first women's basketball National Tournament Berth

The Ancilla College Chargers are heading to the NJCAA Division II National Championship for the first time in school history after defeating Lake Michigan College 67-64 in the NJCAA District G Tournament Championship. The game was slow starting and was tied 9-9 at the end of the first quarter. Ancilla took the lead to start the second quarter and never gave it back. In fact, Ancilla built up a 19 point lead with 7:35 left in the game but Lake Michigan used stifling defense to cut into the Chargers lead but never got it below three points. Читать дальше...

[Men's Basketball] Delta off to National Tournament for first time since 1989

The Delta College men's basketball team is off to the NJCAA Division II National Tournament for the first time since 1989, when they claimed the National title, after defeating Schoolcraft College 73-66 in the NJCAA District 10 Championship. The Pioneers lead the game at the break 31-29 after having an 11 point lead late in the first half. Delta held the lead for most of the second half or the game was tied. [Men's Basketball] BACK TO BACK: Grand Rapids claims second straight District 9 Title

The Grand Rapids Community College men's basketball team is heading back to the Danville, IL, after beating Ancilla College in the NJCAA District 9 Championship for the second straight year. The Raiders won the game over the second ranked Chargers by a 85-72 score. Ancilla led for a good portion of the first half and led 36-35 at the half. The lead changed hands several times early in the second half, but when Zach Pangborn his a jumper to make the score 64-62 with 7:09 left, Ancilla would never lead again. Читать дальше...

[Women's Basketball] Macomb in District H Championship for second straight year

Macomb Community College used a 26-9 third quarter to overcome an early deficit and defeat St. Clair County Community College 59-47 in the semi-finals of the NJCAA District H Tournament held at the SC4 Fieldhouse in Port Huron, MI. Macomb trailed at halfime 27-25 but Ashley Wilson hit a three pointer on the first possession of the second half to take the lead for good. That triple would start a 11-4 run over the next five minutes to put the Monarchs in the lead for good.
