Kia Motors has unveiled the 2026 Kia EV9 GT at the Los Angeles Auto Show, marking a significant step forward in the electric SUV segment. Positioned as the most powerful three-row SUV in the brand’s history, the EV9 GT combines performance-oriented features with advanced electric mobility technology.
The Kia EV9 GT is powered by dual electric motors delivering an estimated 501 horsepower and features e-AWD (electric all-wheel drive). With a targeted 0-60 mph acceleration of 4.3 seconds, it surpasses the EV9 GT-Line, which achieves the same sprint in 5 seconds. A 160 kW front motor and a 270 kW rear motor are the driving forces behind this powertrain, offering a blend of speed and stability.
Kia introduces Electronically Controlled Suspension (ECS) for the first time in a three-row SUV. This system optimizes shock damping, steering, and braking based on drive modes, which include Normal, Eco, Sport, and a customizable My Drive mode. A distinctive GT button on the steering wheel activates the stiffest suspension and most aggressive power settings for enhanced performance.
Adding to the experience is the Virtual Gear Shift (VGS) system, simulating the sensation of traditional gear shifts, complemented by an Active Sound Design (e-ASD) system for immersive acceleration audio. With a focus on safety and handling, the EV9 GT is equipped with an electronic Limited Slip Differential (e-LSD) to improve cornering stability.
The EV9 GT retains Kia’s 800-volt fast-charging architecture, capable of charging the battery from 10% to 80% in less than 25 minutes using a DC fast charger. The inclusion of the North American Charging Standard (NACS) port ensures compatibility with over 35,000 fast chargers in the U.S., making long trips more accessible.
The EV9 GT distinguishes itself through exclusive styling cues. Exterior enhancements include 21-inch alloy wheels, neon green calipers, and unique Active Air Flaps with a GT-specific design. Inside, the cabin features Alcantara sport seats, neon green accents, and GT-exclusive dashboard trim. A 12.3-inch digital display provides performance-oriented graphics, while ambient lighting enhances the overall luxury.
Equipped with a robust suite of ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), the EV9 GT features:
The 2026 Kia EV9 GT is assembled in South Korea and will be available in the U.S. in late 2025. Pricing details are expected closer to the launch date.
Kia’s EV9 GT represents a bold step forward in combining the practicality of a family SUV with the thrill of high-performance driving, further solidifying Kia’s position in the competitive electric vehicle market.
