Victims of atrocities in SC/ST communities in Odisha will now receive financial or in-kind relief within seven days of FIR registration. District collectors have been empowered to disburse funds ranging from Rs 85,000 to Rs 8.25 lakh, a significant improvement from the previous multi-year delay. This change follows a directive from the Odisha Human Rights Commission.
