New Delhi: The new emperor of the chess world, Gukesh Dommaraju aka Gukesh D has got the reward for his hard work. This young grand master of India created history by winning the title of World Chess Championship. By achieving this feat at the age of just 18, Gukesh became the youngest world champion. After this historic success, there has been a rain of rewards. He has already received the reward for becoming the world champion, now the Tamil Nadu government has also announced a reward of Rs 5 crore to Gukesh.
After a tough competition of 14 rounds in the World Championship played in Singapore, India’s rising chess star Gukesh defeated China’s defending world champion Ding Liren with a score of 7.5 – 6.5 and won this title for the first time. With this, he became only the second Indian player to win the World Championship after Vishwanathan Anand. At the same time, by achieving this success at the age of just 18, he also broke the record of the great player Garry Kasparov of becoming the youngest world champion.

Gukesh’s achievement brought happiness to the entire country, but this victory was celebrated more in Tamil Nadu, the state of this young grandmaster from Chennai. This was a matter of pride for Tamil Nadu, which has become famous as the chess factory of India, and hence the Chief Minister of the state MK Stalin announced a reward of Rs 5 crore to Gukesh for his achievement. He congratulated and wished Gukesh for such a brilliant performance in the future as well.

History created in Candidates and Olympiad:
Gukesh had made it to the World Championship by winning the Candidates Tournament earlier this year. He became the youngest player to win the Candidates and he has maintained this record by winning the World Championship. He is the 18th World Champion in the history of chess. Gukesh received warm congratulations from the entire country including Prime Minister Narendra Modi on this success.
Earlier also Gukesh had received a reward from the Tamil Nadu government. This reward was given to him for winning the gold medal in the Chess Olympiad. Gukesh not only won the gold medal in the team event but also won the individual gold. India won the Chess Olympiad gold medal for the first time in September this year.
