The O’Leary Insurance Keelboat Winter League concluded last weekend, and unfortunately, once again racing was cancelled due to adverse conditions. We were pretty unlucky with the weather for this event as we lost three days of racing out of six. That said, the three days of racing we had, were absolutely superb with 27 boats racing in our annual White Sail League. Thanks to the O’Leary family, Anthony and Sally, for their continuous support of this event. Anthony and Sally were race officers for the three weeks of racing and Sally produced magnificent hampers for those on the podium on the final day.
And so, on to the prizegiving. Firstly, we awarded Durcan’s meats vouchers to the most festive crew. The crew’s of Roaring forties and Magnet took the honours!
In IHS, in third place was Jalapeno from KYC, in second was Ria Lyden’s Ellida and the winner of IHS for 2024 was Clodagh O’Donovan and family aboard Roaring forties.
In IRC, in third place was Brian Twomey’s 1720, Dark Side, in second we had Kieran Collins and Barry Rose on Kieran’s classic folk boat IF, and the winner of the Irish Mist perpetual trophy was Peter O’Leary in his Star. Thanks again to the keelboat owners and their crew, and of course to Ann, Amy and all the staff for their support.
Please see the link to the event photo’s below, once again, Bob and Mary have provided us with some fantastic action shots of the league!
