West Indies have completed a historic ODI series win over Bangladesh after a gap of more than 10 years, winning the second ODI comprehensively by 7 wickets with more than 13 overs to spare. The home side will now eye a 3-0 ODI series whitewash against Mehidy Hasan Miraz’s side as the two sides face off in the third and final ODI match at the Warner Park in Basseterre, St Kitts on Thursday.
Pacer Jayden Seales and opener Brandon King were the stars for Shai Hope’s Windies team in the second ODI earlier this week. Seales rocked the Bangladesh side early by claiming career-best 4/22 as the visitors were restricted to 227 after batting first.
Mahmudullah’s 62 and bowler Tanzim Hasan Sakib’s 45 gave semblance of respectability to the Bangladesh total after they had slipped to 115 for 7 in the 26th over. Apart from Seales, Gudakesh Motie claimed 2/36.
In reply, King led the way with 82 off 79 balls with fellow opener Evin Lewis chipping in with 49. Skipper Shai Hope and Sherfane Rutherford put the finishing touches on an easy win. Windies had earlier won the first ODI with Rutherford scoring his maiden ODI ton off 77 balls.
