Colby Covington still won’t be inviting Kamaru Usman over for the holidays.
Covington returns to the octagon this Saturday for the first time in a year as he faces Joaquin Buckley in the main event of UFC Tampa. “Chaos” recently took part in a Twitch stream where he answered fan questions, and one came up about which opponent he hates most. Covington went to his two-time opponent.
“Definitely Marty Juiceman,” Covington said. “Just because he’s a cheater and he’s a coward. He definitely cheated multiple times in our fights so I just can’t respect someone that cheats in a fight.
“I’ve never cheated. I’ve done everything the right way. I didn’t cut corners, didn’t ask for shortcuts, had to go the long way.”
Covington was stopped by Usman in their first meeting for the welterweight title at UFC 245 in December 2019. After finishing Tyron Woodley 10 months later, Covington would get another crack at Usman and UFC gold at UFC 268 in November 2021.
In the rematch, Usman won a super close decision to retain his title. The 36-year-old would earn a third crack at the title following a victory over Jorge Masvidal, and lost a decision to Leon Edwards at UFC 296 a year ago.
