TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Troy Police Department is hosting a blood drive with the American Red Cross in memory of Sergeant James O'Brien on Tuesday. It will be at 433 River Street in Troy from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m.
The drive will be in the Hedley Building on the ninth floor in the Collar City Ballroom. Those attending need an appointment to participate. Visit the Red Cross website, call (800) RED-CROSS, or download the Free Blood Donor App and use the sponsor keyword "Troypolice" to make an appointment.
Sergeant O'Brien passed away in December 2010 after battling with leukemia. He had a career with the Troy Police Department for over 20 years and the department is using this drive as a way to honor his legacy.
