PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A youth football player died and four other teens were hurt in a 2-car collision Saturday afternoon in Eugene, police said.
Just before 4 p.m., a Toyota Corolla and a Chevy Suburban collided at River Road and Beacon Drive. Inside the Toyota were five teens, one of whom, Easton Bounds, died in the crash, the president of the Pleasant Hill Youth Football Club told KOIN 6 News.
The other teens were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries. Their conditions are not known at this time.
The driver of the Suburban, who was the only person in that vehicle, stayed at the scene and is cooperating with investigators, authorities said.
The cause of the crash remains unclear.
