Three days into the manhunt for the suspect who fatally shot UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in midtown Manhattan, we still know shockingly little about the person behind the crime. As of Friday afternoon, the shooter is still at large and remains unidentified. But we do know this: The suspect identified by police was apparently in a flirty mood when he arrived in New York a few days before the shooting.
On Thursday, authorities released surveillance images of the suspect’s face, though — as one depraved corner of the internet has pointed out — they could easily pass for photos from a Gladiator III casting call. In one image, which was taken from cameras at the Upper West Side hostel where police believe the suspect stayed, he appears to be grinning ear to ear, showing off cute dimples, an impressive Roman chin, and a stunning set of pearly whites. According to ABC, police said they were able to get a clear shot of their suspect’s face because he and the woman who checked him into the hostel were flirting, and she asked him to pull down his mask and show her his smile.

The hostel check-in lady is not alone. A lot of people took one grainy look at the suspect and immediately started swooning and comparing his features to Timothée Chalamet. They look more Gyllenhaal-esque to me, but it’s only a matter of time until someone organizes a look-alike contest to sort it out. I’m sure everyone will feel great about their horny tweets in three days’ time.
