DELMAR, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- To Life!, a breast cancer support-counseling and consultation organization, is partnering with Albany Medical Center's Breast Care Center to expand services. The organization will have a private space in the Center, 25 Hackett Blvd., where it can meet with patients.
The partnership was spearheaded by Dr. Lynn Choi, breast surgeon and Director of the Albany Medical Center Breast Care Center. According to an announcement, she has been a partner and advocate for To Life!
"This partnership helps ensure our patients have access to all resources they may need throughout their journey," Choi said. "Patients will have the opportunity to visit with To Life! immediately following their post-operative appointment, removing additional steps from an already stressful time. We are tremendously grateful to To Life! for their support in this endeavor."
To Life! offers services and programs to support those dealing with a breast cancer diagnosis throughout the Capital Region. The services include supportive counseling, peer mentoring, educational and wellness programs, and boutique fitting services for individuals with hair loss and those looking for mastectomy products.
At the Center, To Life! can meet with patients once per month and refer them to one of their three boutiques in Delmar, Saratoga Springs or Amsterdam, for a full-service experience or product pick-up.
"Having a presence within the Breast Center will help elevate the patient experience. To Life! is committed to providing emotional support and other services during and after treatment,” said Eileen Howe Bird, executive director of To Life!.
Dennis P. McKenna, MD, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Albany Med
Health System echoed both Choi and Bird.
"To Life! and Albany Medical Center share a common mission of improving the health of our
communities," he said. "Partnerships such as this are vital to our commitment to attaining the highest standard of quality in care delivery that patients throughout our region have grown to know us for."
To Life! staff will begin seeing Breast Center patients on December 19, by appointment only.
