Atlanta pulled off an upset win over the Cleveland Cavaliers the same day and needed Chicago to lose to clinch the group and advance to the knockout rounds.
The Celtics have a complicated path to clinch a wildcard berth. Boston only won by nine Friday, so it needs specific results from the Detroit Pistons and New York Knicks. It will be a groaning or exciting Tuesday for Green Teamers who are either in or out on the idea of the NBA Cup. But the Hawks will be thrilled to continue their run to the final in Las Vegas.
