Good Morning. It's Wednesday 27th November, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road...
Win tonight will take Whites topLeeds slipped down to fourth in the Championship table as Sheffield Utd, Burnley and Sunderland all picked up valuable points on Tuesday evening.
Sunderland drop from second to third after their fifth draw in a row. The Mackems dominated, but were unable to break down a stubborn West Brom defence, content to pick up a point. Another team with a obstinate back line, Burnley, move up to second after a comfortable 2-0 home win against Coventry City. They have only conceded one goal in the last six games, and six overall all season (in the league).
Sheffield Utd moved to the top of the pile with a convincing 3-0 home victory against a floundering Oxford side, who are quickly running out of ideas! Summer targets Callum O'Hare and Jesurun Rak-Sakyi were both on target for the Blades. A win against Luton tonight will take the Whites back up to top spot on goal difference!
Suspended top flight ref mixed up in Alioski controversySuspended Premier League referee David Coote is now the subject of a betting probe by the FA following a booking handed out to Ezgjan Alioski during Leeds 1-0 win over West Brom in October 2019. The man in black (42) is currently suspended pending an investigation into comments he made about Liverpool, and their former Manager Jurgen Klopp where he said 'Jürgen Klopp’s a c***, Liverpool are all f**king bell**** and we hate scousers.”
Now Coote has been embroiled in another incident as 'The Sun' look to dish the dirt on the Nottinghamshire match official! According to the daily tabloid, he discussed carding Ezgjan Alioski with a Leeds fan he had met online the day before. After the game, he then messaged the fan on Twitter saying: "I hope you backed as discussed."
In fairness, Alioski's 17th minute sliding tackle on Darnell Furlong deserved a booking, but Coote's self-importance and condescension is certainly a cause for concern. He denies any wrongdoing.
