Warnings have been issued across 13 states as wintry weather moves across parts of the country this week.
Snow and wind will hit states ranging from Colorado to New York and Vermont ahead of Thanksgiving, with parts of the Sierra Nevada in California to see up to 6 feet of the white stuff.
A large swathe of snow will move over Utah and Colorado overnight, leaving an estimated 20 inches of snow in the mountains.
An estimated 80 million people will take to the roads to travel across the United States for Thanksgiving this year – and the wintry weather could make the journey more perilous.
Colorado could see high winds and up to 26 inches of snow on the ground, according to local weather services.
A second weather system will bring freezing rain and snow to northern Michigan, Vermont and parts of New York.
Idaho, Nevada, Utah, Wyoming, Alaska and California will also see snow fall in the coming days.
At least the UK isn’t alone in experiencing snow as of late.
Last week, some areas of the UK saw as much as 20cm fall overnight after an Arctic blast brought a proper slice of winter to the UK.
Temperatures will cool off again in the coming days after Storm Bert blew through this weekend.
Met Office Chief Meteorologist Neil Armstrong said: ‘With cold Arctic air firmly in place over the UK, continued winter hazards are likely through much of this week, with further updates to warnings likely in the coming days.’
The Met Office has now released its long range forecast covering December 4 to 18, and it predicts chilly weather in the lead-up to Christmas.
It’s still too early to tell whether we’ll have a white Christmas this year, but forecasters believe there is a ‘risk of some snow’ in the weeks leading up to December 25.
