KVC Westerlo, who have already signed two players on loan from Tottenham Hotspur, want to sign another of the Lilywhites’ starlets in a temporary deal in January.
Centre-back Luka Vuskovic and midfielder Alfie Devine have both been loaned out to Westerlo until the end of the season.
Both players have been getting some important minutes in the Jupiler Pro League and they have both impressed, particularly the centre-back, who has shown maturity beyond his years.
It has now emerged that the Belgian club are looking to sign another one of Tottenham‘s players, who has struggled for game time since arriving in North London back in the summer.
This update comes from Voetbal Nieuws, who say that having signed an agreement over official cooperation with Spurs, Westerlo ‘can suddenly dream’ about a big transfer in January.
The report claims that there is a ‘good chance’ that Tottenham might send Lucas Bergvall on loan to the Antwerp-based side when the transfer window reopens.
It is explained that the Lilywhites see Westerlo as a ‘very good intermediate step’ for their young players before they are ready to feature in the Premier League, given the physical demands of the Belgian top flight.
There is thus hope at Westerlo that Bergvall, who arrived at Tottenham with plenty of promise in the summer, will be wearing their colours for the second half of the season.
Ange Postecoglou will not consider loaning out Archie Gray as the former Leeds man has already shown that he can be a very useful squad option.
However, the same cannot be said of Bergvall, who despite showing glimpses of his class, does not look ready to play regularly at the highest level at the moment.
The best thing for the Swede’s development would be to get regular game time under his belt, which is why it would not come as a surprise if Tottenham sent the youngster out on loan in January.
