A man that was high on drugs walked into A&E and got himself stuck in the ceiling before he had to be pulled down by security.
Shortly after 9pm on Monday evening, the intoxicated man was seen on CCTV footage entering a toilet at the San Antonio Regional Hospital – but he never left.
The man reportedly broke through some ceiling tiles in the toilet and pulled himself up, causing $5,000 worth of damage in the process.
Upland police were called to try to locate him in the ceiling.
Using a pole camera, the man was found in the ceiling above a HVAC unit in total darkness.
And with nowhere to go, he admitted to officers that he was stuck.
San Bernardino County firefighters were called the hospital to try and set the man free.
In a video released by Upland Police, firefighters can be seen removing ceiling boards to discover the man, who is wedged into a tiny little space wearing jeans a vest.
Responders yank at the man’s legs to try and pull him free, eventually managing to do so.
Funnily, the video is accompanied by the ‘Scooby Doo’ theme song.
Once the man was pulled down, he was arrested and charged with felony vandalism.
He caused thousands of pounds worth of damage, but hospital staff luckily remained uninterrupted while trying to perform their duties.
That’s not the first time the emergency services have had to remove someone who got stuck though.
A year ago, a man got his boat stuck in a Lincolnshire glory hole.
After his boat became trapped, Ray Fisher stood on the ledge of a bridge to try and push it back out, but the disruption caused ‘chaos’ on the river.
Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue were called to free the man and his boat. Luckily, Mr Fisher said nothing was hurt apart from his pride.
In a drugs-related blunder somewhat similar to the man in the San Antonio hospital ceiling, one British man found himself stuck on top of a lamppost.
Back in 2018, a man from Birmingham climbed up a lamppost while high on spice and was filmed swinging from the top of it.
Fire services had to be called to pull the man down, but he didn’t go down (literally) without a fight.
The drugged-up man seen kicking and screaming as officers tried to rescue him.
And earlier this year, a 37-year-old man was trapped in an airplane toilet for an entire flight from Mumbai to Bengaluru City, India.
The man suffered every claustrophobia sufferers’ worst nightmare when he went to use the toilet at the start of the flight and couldn’t open the door to let himself out.
He spent an hour and 45 minutes in the tiny restroom, saying after he was let out that he was ‘traumatised, dazed and injured.’
As the plane landed, the man recalled being thrown around the toilet.
