Ahead of this weekend’s National league clash, Fylde forward Charlie Jolley spoke about his start to the campaign and how the side are looking ahead of this weekend’s test against Ebbsfleet United.
The Coasters will be looking to bounce back after falling to a defeat against Braintree Town last weekend.
Jolley has two goals to his name after scoring a brace against Aldershot back in October, and the summer signing will be looking to add to that tally in the coming weeks.
Speaking on the Coasters start to the season, Jolley said: “It’s obviously been a difficult start both collectively and personally.
“However, I think in the past few weeks we’ve started to show glimpses of what we can do and it’s now just about doing it consistently and finding the right balance.
“As a team, we know the aim has to be picking up points as quickly as possible.”
After joining from League Two side Tranmere Rovers, Jolley feels there are plenty of similarities between the two divisions.
He continued: “Football is football and it’s 11 vs 11, but after dropping down a league, I wouldn’t say it’s much different and sometimes it’s harder.
“The caliber in this league is excellent and there’s some very good players who could be playing higher.
“But with us, we’ve got plenty of lads who have come from higher divisions themselves with Corey Whelan, Joe Riley and Gavin Massey to name just a few, and they’d probably say the same that it is difficult in the National League.
“But like I said, we have to be better consistently and we have to win more games on a regular basis.”
Finally, ahead of this weekend’s test against Ebbsfleet, Jolley is keen to take the positives despite last weekend’s defeat in Essex.
“I think whilst going away from home to teams around us is difficult, I thought we kept our shape and nullified their threats really well.
“It took one lapse of concentration, and we conceded giving them something to hold on too. So, I think we have to take the moments of when we’ve got teams open, Gateshead being a prime example, and if we put that together, we can be a really strong threat in this league.”
