The current world test and ODI World cup champions Australian cricket team is on rampage for last couple of years as they have won 3 major ICC tournaments in last three years. T20 World cup in 2021, ICC Test Champions in 2022, and ODI cricket World Cup in 2023, shattering dreams of 1.5 billion Indian.
However, the main reason behind their consistent performance in ICC events and all cricketing events is their consistent performing bowlers comprising Josh Hazlewood, Mitchel Starc, Pat Cummins, and Nathan Lyon. The all four bowlers were on a roll on the first day of test match at Perth and helped Australia to gain massive control at the end of first inning in context of the test match. Both Starc and Hazlewood claimed two wickets each followed by exceptional spell by Pat Cummins.
The Bowling quartet also created a history in Perth and become the very first set of player to take 500 wickets while playing along with each other. Pat Cummins has 130 wickets, Mitchel Starch and Josh Hazlewood are neck to neck with 124 wickets and Nathan Lyon contributed with 122 wickets.
The near close to this feat is quartet of Anderson, Stokes, Stuart, and Moeen Ali who have scalped 415 wickets playing together.
The Australian bowlers are flying high, Nathan Lyon has 530 wickets in 130 matches, followed by Mitchel Starc 360 wickets inn 90 test matches, Josh Hazlewood with 275 wickets in 71 games and Australian red ball captain Pat Cummins has 269 scalps in 63 red ball games he played for Australia.
The quartet forced India into deep trouble on the very first test match of Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 and bundled India for 150. India opting to bat but soon turned into a collapse as 7 of the batter went back in the dugout in single figures where three out of seven were on ducks. KL Rahul looked solid but has to go back to pavilion on the score of 26 courtesy, a controversial third umpire decision. However, Pant and Reddy tried their hand and gave India some handy runs considering the pitch.
