An update has emerged regarding the fitness of Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero ahead of Manchester City vs Tottenham, and it is concerning news for Spurs fans.
Richarlison and Wilson Odobert are both out with long-term injuries, but Tottenham fans have been waiting to know the status of their two starting centre-backs.
Van de Ven has not kicked a ball since picking up a hamstring injury in the Carabao Cup win over Manchester City last month.
Meanwhile, Romero came off with a foot injury in Argentina’s World Cup qualifier against Paraguay last week, with neither Spurs nor the Argentine FA providing any update on the 26-year-old since.
Sky Sports have now claimed that the Dutchman will not be fit enough to make the trip to the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
They reveal that the 23-year-old is still a few weeks away from returning to action, with Ange Postecoglou hoping to have him back by the middle of December.
Meanwhile, they state that Romero remains doubtful to feature against the Premier League champions after his latest injury during the international break.
That means that Tottenham might have to line up with Radu Dragusin and Ben Davies as their starting centre-backs on Saturday, in the absence of Romero and Van de Ven.
To make matters worse for Tottenham, their opponents have reportedly welcomed back several of their key men for the clash.
It was reported by Fabrizio Romano on Thursday morning that Kevin de Bruyne, John Stones, Jack Grealish and Manuel Akanji had all returned to training this week.
With Pep Guardiola’s men desperate to bounce back after four straight losses, things are not looking rosy for Spurs at the moment.
