We are getting to know more about Gypsy Rose Blanchard‘s relationship!
On Tuesday (July 9), Gypsy, 32, announced that she and boyfriend Ken Urker were expecting their first child together. If you didn’t know he two first started dating years ago when Gypsy was in prison, but split, and then rekindled their romance in April after she separated from husband Ryan Scott Anderson.
Now that Gypsy and Ken are back in the headlines, we’re taking a look at the couple’s relationship so that you can get to know more about the Ken.

Ken Wrote to Gypsy After Watching HBO’s Mommy Dead and Dearest Documentary
Ken first reached out to Gypsy in 2017 while she was in prison after watching the HBO documentary Mommy Dead and Dearest, which detailed her early life and the abuse she suffered from her late mother Claudine “Dee Dee” Blanchard.
In an interview with E! News in 2019, Gypsy talked about her relationship with Ken, revealing that he first sent her a “letter of support” and after corresponding on a weekly basis, they “became fast friends” before they started dating.
“It was pretty soon after that that we started talking on the phone,” Gypsy said. “We would spend hours on the phone. I talked to him like I had known him my whole life and vice versa.”
Ken Comes from a Big Family
Ken is one of five children and has a big family, and they support their relationship.
“He has a big family and so do I. My father’s side is pretty big,” Gypsy shared. “It’s something I am relieved about because it’s like, a lot of people in here they don’t always have that family support.”
She continued, “I was very concerned when we first started dating, because I was like, ‘Oh my god your family is going to think of me like I’m in prison for murder!’ And he was like, ‘No my mom has watched the documentary and my grandma has watched the documentary and my grandma, my brother and everybody has watched it so they know your story and they do have a heart for you.’ So I didn’t have to explain everything, it was sort of already known when I came into the picture.”
Ken Proposed in 2018
After a year of dating, Ken proposed to Gypsy in October 2018.
“This was something we had discussed for a while, so it wasn’t out of the blue,” Gypsy told E! News. “We bounced around the idea, we have a pretty solid thing going and we’re pretty sure this is what we want. So, on the October visit, he held my hands close and told me how much I meant to him and he’s like, ‘I would really, really be honored if I could have your hand in marriage,’ and I said yes.”
He first gave her a silver band, but it was confiscated in prison, so he bought her a new one.
They Broke Up in 2019
After dating on and off, Gypsy and Ken broke up in 2019 and she went on to marry Ryan Scott Anderson in a jailhouse ceremony in July 2022.
They Reconnected After Her Split from Ryan
Three months after she was released from prison, Gypsy split from Ryan in late March 2024 and she moved in with her dad and stepmother in Louisiana.
Shortly after she separated from Ryan, Gypsy‘s stepmother confirmed that she and Ken had reconnected and had started hanging out in early April. They even got matching tattoos.
They Confirmed They Were Together Again
In late April, Gypsy confirmed that she and Ken had rekindled their relationship.
“We have a history that made for the perfect foundation for a new beginning,” Gypsy told TMZ. “We are together and in a wonderful place in our relationship. We know it is going to be a long road ahead but are excited for the future.”
Ken Re-Located to Louisiana
After rekindling their relationship, Ken re-located to New Orleans in early June to be closer to Gypsy and her family, People confirmed.
They’re Expecting Their First Child Together
In July, Gypsy announced that she and Ken were expecting their first child together.
Gypsy revealed that she’s 11 weeks along and has been facing pregnancy symptoms including hunger, mood swings, and cravings.
She also shared that the baby was not planned, but her and Ken are excited to start this journey together
Gypsy’s due in January of 2025.
