SAMSUNG Galaxy users can take advantage of a built-in feature that optimizes device performance and saves battery.
Galaxy smartphones come with a tool called Device Care, which provides quick access to check battery life, storage, memory, and security settings.
Device Care can also run automatic “optimization checks” on your phone to identify apps that use excessive power, delete unnecessary files, and close apps that are running in the background.
You can run a check yourself by go to “Settings” and tapping “Device Care,” which will run a diagnosis on your device.
The feature will provide a score out of 100 – the higher the score, the better optimized your device is. Hit “Optimize now” to complete the process.
You can also schedule your device to automatically optimize once a day. After heading to “Device Care,” tap the three dots and tap “Advanced.”
Simply toggle the switch to activate “Auto optimization.”
You can check your battery usage to see which apps have been draining the most power. You can also set a different power mode on your device to save power throughout the day.
Under “Device care,” tap “Battery,” then “Battery usage” to see a summary.
Return to the “Battery” menu and select “Power mode” to customize your device settings. There are four modes to choose from.
High performance maximizes screen brightness and resolution and, in turn, uses the most battery.
The Optimised setting provides Samsung’s “recommended balance of performance and battery life,” according to the manufacturer.
Medium power saving extends battery life by limiting certain functions, while maximum power saving conserves as much power as possible.
Alternatively, you can tap the switch to activate adaptive power saving mode and set the mode based on your usage patterns.
You can also control which apps run in the background when they aren’t in use.
Go to the “Battery” menu and select “App power management” to review the pre-programmed settings.
Adaptive battery mode will limit battery usage will be limited for apps that you don’t use often.
Users can put certain apps to sleep after they haven’t been used for a while and restrict others from ever being put to sleep.
There is even an option to set “deep sleeping apps,” which will never run in the background and only work when you open them.
Samsung also provides an easy way to clear up storage space by deleting rarely used apps and unnecessary documents in just a few taps.
Head to “Storage” under “Device care” and scan the available categories, which include “Documents” and “Images.”
Select the items you want to delete and tap “Delete” twice when prompted to confirm.

If background app activity is slowing down your device, you can quickly free up memory.
Tap “Memory” under “Device care” and hit “Clean now.”
If you want to exclude any apps from the cleaning cycle, you can manually remove them before this step.
Optimize device performance by activating the auto settings under “Advanced” in “Device care.”
You can restart your phone at a certain time, optimize your settings when you aren’t using your phone to save battery, and automatically run a check on your phone once a day.
