The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) says that to support; create a learning environment, and foster social interaction, they have established a social center for women and girls in the Anjil district of Herat province, Afghanistan.
The organization announced on Sunday, March 31st, releasing a report stating that more than ten thousand women and girls will benefit from this center.
Furthermore, one of the women who has benefited from this United Nations program says, “This has had a very positive impact on my life; I feel good here.”
Meanwhile, UN support for women entrepreneurs to expand job opportunities in Afghanistan has increased in various sectors.
Previously, the United Nations had stated in a report that two-thirds of the earthquake victims in Herat were women and children and needed humanitarian assistance.
This comes as some female traders in this province have also emphasized that their work and livelihoods have diminished significantly after the earthquake.
Additionally, due to the oppressive policies of the Taliban in Afghanistan, girls and women are being banned from education and employment, further exacerbating the challenges they face in accessing opportunities for personal and professional growth.
The Taliban’s actions not only hinder the progress of women and girls but also have severe implications for the overall development and stability of the country.
