A HAIRDRESSER has revealed the big mistake people make when washing their hair – and it could be wrecking your locks.
Danielle Palompo, from Edinburgh, regularly shares her styling tips and favourite haircare products on TikTok (@daniellepalompo).
Danielle Palompo is a professional hairdresser from Edinburgh[/caption]In a recent video, the 32-year-old mum revealed her “Shampooing 101” hack that will keep your hair both clean and healthy.
She said: “If you shampoo the ends of your hair, you are doing it wrong.
“Shampoo is for cleaning your scalp and roots of your hair.
“Shampooing the ends can cause tangling and possible breakage.
“The shampoo running through your ends when rinsing it out is enough to gently clean and remove any product.”
Danielle’s top tip won’t just improve the quality of your hair, but with less shampoo needed it’s also saving you money!
And it’s not just how you shampoo your hair that makes a difference, it’s what product you’re picking up too.
Danielle, who hosts her own parenting podcast Keep It Casual, said there are “hundreds of great shampoo brands out there” that can help your locks.
But she admits that there are three she swears by and always recommends them to customers.
She said: “Colour Wow’s colour security shampoo and conditioner is amazing.
“It is sulphate and residue free so its main purpose is to clean your hair which sounds obvious, but not all shampoos main purpose is to do that believe it or not.
“It will clean your hair, look after your colour, whilst relieving excess oil, product build up, dry skin cells, any flakes that are sitting on your scalp.”
“If your hair is damaged I would go for Reskin acidic bonding range”, she continued.
“It is very concentrated, but if your hair’s damaged it will need it and it is amazing.
“If your hair’s not damaged but it’s really dry or quite coarse, Matrix food for soft is such a good hydrating shampoo and conditioner.”
