November is ending, but awards ceremonies are just beginning. Gold Derby editors and Experts Christopher Rosen and Joyce Eng are here to discuss the Gotham Awards winners and what, if anything, they mean, and more.
On Monday, the Gotham Awards brought out a ton of stars in the first post-actors’ strike event, where “Past Lives” won Best Feature. “Anatomy of a Fall” claimed two prizes, Best Screenplay and Best International Feature, while nomination leader “All of Us Strangers” went 0-4. But reminder that every category is voted on by a different jury of five, so not exactly a wide swath of people. But winning never hurts.

The lead acting award went to Lily Gladstone for “The Unknown Country,” not “Killers of the Flower Moon,” which was not submitted, but she still gave a speech on behalf of the Martin Scorsese epic as it was honored with the Historical Icon & Creator Tribute Award. Charles Melton‘s buzz for “May December” continued as the actor picked up the supporting performer trophy. The last two winners of the gender-neutral category were Troy Kotsur (“CODA”) and Ke Huy Quan (“Everything Everywhere All at Once”), both of whom went on to win the Oscar. Will Melton carry on the trend? Chris attended the ceremony and explains the changes to his Oscar predictions based on the night because of course he did.
Elsewhere, we discuss Thanksgiving (re-)watches, the music categories and who censored Robert De Niro.
