RICHMOND — A shooting Thursday night on the Richmond Parkway wounded a driver and left investigators looking for who pulled the trigger.
Richmond police Sgt. Donald Patchin in an emailed statement said officers were notified about 6:10 p.m. by a gunshot-detection alert and several 911 calls about gunfire involving two vehicles. Police later determined that the shooting happened on Richmond Parkway between Goodrick Avenue and Giant Highway.
The driver was hit at least one time, causing the vehicle to crash into the center median, Patchin said. Officers and fire paramedics treated the person at the scene before an ambulance arrived. Patchin said the person was in critical condition at a hospital.
According to Patchin, witnesses described one vehicle chasing another while shooting at it. That vehicle raced out of the area following the shooting. Police did not release any information on the vehicle or who was driving it.
It was not known how many people may have been in the vehicle from where the gun was fired.
Police urged anyone with information to contact Det. Canelo at 510-620-6860.
