The nurse was concerned and called Paul’s specialist MND nurse in to perform some tests.
With Paul struggling to blow into the tube, the nurse questioned him about his ability to sleep and then she made sure he had applied for benefits to help pay for his care.
But when she mentioned a special form to fast-track his application, Paul knew what it meant.
“I read about it online, they only give you that form if they reckon you’ve got six months left, maybe a year,” Paul said.
He begged the nurse to tell him the truth: “Forget the form. That’s where we’re at, isn’t it? Six, maybe 12 months?”
“I’m afraid so,” said the nurse.
Paul, Bernie and Billy were all devastated by the news and spiralled in their own ways.
But viewers are utterly heartbroken for Paul and couldn’t stop themselves from crying.
One wrote: “Oh Paul. It’s so heartbreaking.”
A second said: “Very sad storyline.”
Another added: “Paul no!”
