A convicted felon from Hartford pleaded guilty to having a loaded gun in his possession while out on supervised release from federal prison, officials said.
Gabriel Horace Williams-Bey, 34, appeared in court in Hartford on Thursday and pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, according to the U.S. Attorney’s office.
Records show that last summer, police in Hartford seized a loaded semi-automatic pistol from a vehicle Williams-Bey was driving. Williams-Bey’s criminal history includes multiple state convictions for narcotics and firearms-related charges and a federal conviction for narcotics, federal officials said.
In June 2016, he was sentenced to eight years in prison and four years of supervised release for the federal conviction. He was released from federal prison in August 2021 and was still on supervised release when the gun was found on June 30, 2022, according to federal officials.
He faces a maximum of 15 years in prison if convicted plus additional penalties for violating the conditions of the supervised release.
Williams-Bey has been in federal custody since July 12, 2022, and his sentencing has not yet been scheduled, the U.S. Attorney’s office said.
