The Golden Parry Ash of War in Elden Ring is a Shield Skill that can be used on medium and small shields. It comes with unique gold-tinted animation that is similar to the Parry Ash of War. Players can find the Golden Parry Ash of War in Elden Ring on the Outskirts of Leyndell Royal Capital.
The closest Site of Grace will be the Outer Wall Phantom Tree. The Golden Parry Ash of War will be near the large shut frame doors with aristocrats begging on the floor. It is a White Teardrop Scarab Ball. Players can find the Teardrop Scarab sitting on a ledge when heading toward the large doors.
Keep an eye out, as the Teardrop Scarab can be easily missed because of its positioning. When players scare or hit it, The Teardrop Scarab will try to escape behind structures. Stay close to it and wait for it to slow down to get the best melee or shot on it. After killing the Teardrop Scarab it will reward the player with the Golden Parry Ash of War.
Players will have to have the Minimum Stat requirement to wield a Medium or Small Shield in Elden Ring in order to use the Golden Parry Ash of War. Unlike the Parry Ash of War, Golden Parry can only be used on Shields, not Melee Armaments. When equipping the Golden Parry Ash of War to a Shield, it automatically comes with the Sacred Affinity.
But Golden Parry can be equipped with a multitude of other affinities, including Standard, Heavy, Keen, Quality, and Lightning. One-handing or Two-handing a shield with Golden Parry does not change the animation or timing. To use the Golden Parry, players will have to time their action skill button to enemy attacks to break their stance.
This will result in an animation being played and the enemy being downed for a Critical Hit. When using the Golden Parry Ash of War, the timing for the parry differs from the normal parry. It has a much faster start-up with slightly more time for the player in Elden Ring to parry enemy attacks.
This is fundamentally better than the Parry Ash of War because players can parry later than normal and achieve the same results. The only downside to the Golden Parry is players who instinctively parry early will be easily punished by enemy attacks. Players can combat this by parrying the enemy's arms except for their weapons.
Elden Ring is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
