For the sixth race of the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series season, the sport is headed to Circuit of The Americas in Austin for its second-ever race on the famous road course — but hopefully the disastrous rainy weather will be avoidable this time.
The Echopark Automotive Grand Prix is set for Sunday at 3:30 p.m. ET on FOX, and with NASCAR’s new format for qualifying this year, that process isn’t the same at every track (superspeedways vs. short tracks vs. road courses and on and on).
This trip to COTA is the first road-course race of the season, so things will look a bit different compared with previous weeks.
Following a 60-minute practice session Saturday, qualifying will have the field divided into two groups based on the finishing order from the previous race — the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway last Sunday in this case. After competing in a 15-minute timed session, the top-5 drivers from each group will then compete in a second qualifying round for the pole with a 10-minute timed session.
So ahead of Sunday’s Echopark Automotive Grand Prix at COTA, here’s a look at the qualifying order for all 39 drivers entered.
