Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus’s #708 007 LMH topped the first 60 minutes of Free Practice ahead of Friday’s FIA WEC season opener, the 1000 Miles of Sebring, Romain Dumas posting a 1:49.738 in a session that again saw heavy showers interrupting fast running.
That time was enough to fend off the best of the second fastest car of the session, the Hypercars finally to the fore after LMP2s dominated the Prologue test at the weekend.
Matthieu Vaxivierre would pit the #36 Alpine second in the order, half a second off the bright red Glickenhaus with the #8 the quickest of the Toyotas in the hands of Sebastien Buemi, a few hundredths back completing an all-hypercar top three (the sister #7 GR010 would end the session fifth fastest).
LMP2 was topped by one of the ‘form’ drivers so far, Ferdinand Habsburg backing up his test time in the Prologue with a 1:50.477 aboard the #41 Realteam by WRT Oreca.
Ex WRT team-mate Louis Deletraz was half a second back in his new mount, the #9 Prema Orlen Team Oreca.
United Autosports’ Paul di Resta rounded out the class top three in the #23 car.
Porsche were dominant in the early prologue running and repeated that form this morning with Kevin Estre topping GTE Pro with a 1:58.827 in the #92 Porsche 911 RSR-19, edging out team-mate Gianmaria Bruni’s best effort in the sister #91 car by just over half a tenth.
Matteo Cairoli made it an all Porsche top three, putting his #46 Team Project 1 Porsche ahead of the factory Corvette – his 1:58.906 almost a second clear of Tommy Milner’s mark.
Next up in the class was the #88 Dempsey-Proton Porsche of Julien Andlauer with the #98 NorthWest AMR Aston Martin Vantage GTE (Nikki Thiim) and the rebuilt #56 Project 1 Porsche (Ben Barnicoat).
