A brand-new trailer for Trigon: Space Story has been released by developer Sernur.tech, giving prospective players a fresh look at the game's galaxy, gameplay, choices, combat, and more. Trigon: Space Story is an FTL-inspired roguelike with a free playable demo currently available on Steam.
Trigon: Space Story is a procedurally-generated space adventure that puts players in the role of a spaceship commander, managing everything from custom ship upgrades, weapon systems, and engines, to the daily tasks of their crew. With a focus on strategic gameplay, users must make smart decisions and sensible choices when it comes to the narrative and upgrading their ship, as players will conquer enemy space pirates, tackle dangerous space anomalies, and explore the galaxy in a game that promises to deliver a unique spin on the roguelike genre and other space strategy video games.
In its new trailer, Trigon: Space Story offers a more in-depth look at what players can expect from its gameplay and world. Kicking off with combat, the video teases just how its tactical battle mechanics will unfold, going on to reveal a look at its many weapons and different spaceships. Combat perks, which provide unique active abilities such as healing crew members, are also highlighted, along with a look at the game's pause feature, which allows for more consideration when employing tactics on the battlefield. The trailer also reveals how a player can upgrade their ship and how crew management will work. A glimpse of its beautiful galaxies is also showcased, as well as some of the narrative choices players will face on their adventure. Finally, the game's permadeath is unveiled, a staple of the roguelike genre.
The new trailer for the upcoming roguelike video game has a lot to unpack, but it's perhaps Trigon: Space Story's setting and decision-making that are of the most interest - and consequence. When highlighting the narrative choices players can make, the trailer shows off branching narrative options when encountering a mining ship, with lots of options regarding response and how the story plays out. It's not clear just how impactful these decisions will be on the overall gameplay, but Trigon promises lots of replayability, not only due to its procedurally-generated world, but also because of its choices. With permadeath, it's likely players will have to pick wisely during missions.
There are lots of games inspired by FTL, otherwise known as Faster Than Light, but Trigon: Space Story is already looking like a promising new addition to the roguelike genre, offerings its own unique take on classic strategy and management games with the addition of permadeath. With different species to play as, an arsenal of up to 100 weapons, and deep tactical gameplay, Trigon: Space Story is looking like it could well be an unmissable space adventure for strategy fans.
Trigon: Space Story comes to PC via Steam and Epic Games Store sometime in 2022. A free demo is now available on Steam.
