One sport
One province
One program
Three regions
One goal
Rugby Ontario is aligning its high-performance summer programming across all three regions of the province this summer. Training takes place on Sundays, starting July 11th.
All training will comply with Rugby Ontario’s Return to Play Plan and fall within the restrictions of the provincial government. As appropriate under the Provincial RTP, training will focus on the following key themes:
For players in Kingston and east, training is in Ottawa. For those living in the central region, training is in Oshawa. For players in the west, training is in Guelph.
Advantages to training in Ottawa include:
EORU Jr Rep staff members have been working with Rugby Ontario for the past two years as well as with our home clubs to align our programs and our schedules. We are now in sync.
It is critical all players re-engage with their home clubs as soon as possible, if you have not done so already. Club rugby remains a critical component of your development and should be a priority for engagement. Furthermore, all players who plan to engage in our summer training program will need to be registered with a club before they can participate. Our provincial schedule has been designed to avoid conflict with club programming so athletes can engage in both to maximize their development opportunities.
Our summer program is accepting players born between 2003 and 2006. We are interested in seeing new players come on board, particularly those who’ve just moved to Ottawa and have heard about our program through high schools and clubs. Training fees cover facility rentals, equipment and COVID-19 Safety standards and protocols, your use of the HUDL sports app; the fees also include a training shirt, mask and rugby training ball for each registered player.
Four things you need to do to register and train with our EORU Jr Rep Academy this summer:
Password: it’s in google classroom or contact leeellenrugby@gmail.com
Training kicks off Sunday, July 11, 2021, at Twin Elm Rugby Park. We will train 4-6pm. Upon arrival, we will have our standard COVID-19 protocols in place. Everyone will be given the day to complete their online attestations. All players will review and sign the Rugby Ontario Code of Conduct. It is available here and as an attachment. Please print it out and sign it and bring it to the first practice. It will be kept in our records.
Training runs weekly until the end of August when we will take a short break for our athletes heading to post-secondary institutions.
When we resume in September, we will have seen so many graduates leave — and we are expecting an influx of new-to-EORU Jr Rep Academy players. We will open registration then to athletes born between 2004 – 2007. In September it’s expected we will train Saturday mornings at TERP.
Please register through the link below. If you are planning to attend the first session on Sunday, July 11th, you’ll need to be registered by Friday/09th at 12 noon. If you miss that deadline you can register next week and look forward to participating on July 18th.
Walk-up registration will not be allowed at the field.
The deadline to pay your summer fees is July 15, 2021. EORU Jr Rep is committed to delivering a fully accessible program. If you require financial assistance, please contact leeellenrugby@gmail.com in confidence.
If you have any questions whatsoever, please feel free to contact LeeEllen Carroll anytime at (613) 794-6868 and leeellencarroll@rogers.com or leeellenrugby@gmail.com.
